Dear St. Bernadette’s Families,
A reminder of our Plastic Bag Challenge. Elementary schools from across Canada are being challenged to collect as many plastic bags as they can for recycling. Schools that collect the most bags per student and show their enthusiasm for the challenge are eligible to win prizes to support environmental initiatives in their school.
St. Bernadette’s has accepted this challenge. Beginning tomorrow through next Monday April 23rd, we are asking our school community to send in as many plastic shopping bags as possible. To make it easier to count our total collection of bags, please place 24 bags inside another bag. This way we can count by 25s. These will then be processed and used to make new products.
We also invite you to clean out your closets and send any used textiles, shoes, purses or belts to school in garbage bags. All Bags will be re-used and re-cycled through the BAG-2-SCHOOL program. Pick up is scheduled for April 23rd at 10:00 am.
All electronic waste can be dropped off at the Electronic Waste Depot in the East parking lot this week from Thursday April 19th to Monday April 23rd.
Finally, our ECO fair will be taking place rain or shine next Saturday April 21st. Come by from 9-12 to check out our special vendors.
Thank you and have a dry and warm Monday,
Mrs. deHaas and Mrs. Chambers
