Celebrating Halloween

Dear Parents and Guardians,

St. Bernadette students are invited to participate in Halloween next Friday, October 30th.  Students are welcome to dress up in costume.  FUN FACT –  In the Christian calendar, November 1st is All Saints Day or “All Hallows’ Day.”  Halloween is simply the abbreviated form of “All Hallows’ Eve” the vigil celebration in anticipation of the feast day.

It is important that your child’s costume is respectful of others.  Costumes that represent another person’s culture or religious beliefs should not be worn.  Please be mindful of children that may be frightened by costumes.  If you do not feel comfortable having your child wear a costume, consider wearing orange and black or fall colors.  Do not send in any weapons to school (ie. toy swords, guns, knives, etc.) and refrain from wearing Halloween masks.

Note: Public Health Measures including the mandatory wearing of a mask for students in Grades 4-6 will be strictly enforced.

Classes will remain in their cohort and are invited to celebrate the tradition on Friday afternoon.  Please do not send in any Halloween treats to school for distribution to your child’s classmates.  They will be returned home with your child.

Finally, we do have several staff and students that have life-threatening allergies.  It is important to read the ingredients of all food sent to school to ensure it is nut-safe.

Thank you for your support as we continue to keep health and safety at the forefront of all of our planning.
