Happy Thanksgiving

Dear St. Bernadette Families,

Another week has quickly passed and we are in the midst of the beauty of the autumn season. Here is a Thanksgiving Prayer families can share over the weekend.

The last day to send in non-perishable items for the Georgina Food Bank will be Tuesday, October 12th.  Ms. DiTrani’s Grade 4/5 and Ms. Quagliara’s Grade 3/4 classes will be leading a Thanksgiving liturgy on Thursday, October 14th.  Our classes will gather virtually and families are welcome to participate by logging into their child’s Google classroom.

A special thank you to an anonymous donor for providing a small pumpkin for each student at St. Bernadette.  Pumpkins will be delivered to the school next week for classroom activities and then sent home.   I also wish to acknowledge a local business – The Goodness Board for fundraising $620 in support of St. Bernadette’s Food Drive for the Georgina Pantry.

As a part of the Food for Learning Snack grant, we will be providing a healthy individually packaged nut-safe cookie (5 grams fat, 3 grams fibre)  and 100% pure, unsweetened juice to each student for the next few Fridays.  If you do not wish your child to receive this snack, please notify the office.

Please find attached a letter regarding Positive Thought Thursdays  Every Thursday from Thursday, October 14th to Thursday, November 4th, our students are invited to wear clothing with positive messaging.  Let’s spread kindness throughout our school community.

Finally, Ms. Jennifer Arsenault has accepted an ECE position at St. Thomas Aquinas effective Tuesday, October 12th.  Ms. Arsenault has been an integral member of our Kindergarten team for the past ten years.  She began working at the Childcare Centre at Prince of Peace and at St. Bernadette as a Lunch Time Office Support worker.  She was hired as an Early Childhood Educator with the Board and worked to implement the Full Day Kindergarten program at St. B’s.  Ms. Arsenault’s passion for early learning and kindness will be greatly missed at St. Bernadette’s. On behalf of our community, we wish her best wishes on her new professional journey.

We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.
