Valentine’s Day (February 14) falls on Ash Wednesday: This year the Season of Lent begins on February 14th (Ash Wednesday). It is the time of year when our Catholic Church observes our forty-day journey toward Easter and it is to be a solemn day. Mrs. Hastings class will be leading our school’s Ash Wednesday Liturgy and Fr. Dunstan will be distributing ashes to our students. As a result, St. Valentine’s Day celebrations at St. Bernadette will take place on Tuesday, February 13 which is also known Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday. If your child will be handing out Valentine’s to their friends, please remember that the students will be handing out Valentine’s cards on Tuesday, February 13 this year. We ask that parents do not send treats to school to be handed out as we have a no food sharing policy due to food allergies.
February 13: Pancake Day/ Shrove Tuesday, the Catholic School Council will be making a pancake, sausage, oranges and drinking boxes for lunch for the students! Please write a letter to your child’s classroom teacher if you do not want your child to eat the Pancake Day Lunch. The brand and ingredients are listed below:
