This year Mrs. Aresta’s grade 5 class will be participating in the York Region Public Works (YRPW), Paint a Plow contest! On Tuesday, May 2 the plow was dropped off at St. Bernadette CES!
This competition complements any teachings of weather, its effect on the environment, how municipal staff handle these conditions, and most importantly, child safety around plows and near road boulevards. Our students showcase their creativity, but the subject relates to this year’s public works theme, “Connecting the World Through Public Works”. Our students will do precisely that, paint a snow plow.
The plow will be picked up on Friday, May 12, 2023 All plow designs will be displayed at the Family Fun Day event on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Designs will stay on the plows as they travel throughout the region during the next winter season.
Winning designs will be posted on Facebook and Twitter @YorkRegionGovt. The plow with the most votes received at the Family Fun Day event will win the Pylon Pete trophy, which will stay at the school for the year. The winning class will also receive a $200.00 gift card and a pizza lunch. Go Broncos!
